Update your cabinet handles (or remove them)

One easy way to really revamp the renovation for your interiors is to change up the hardware on your cabinets. You can update the handles to more modern ones or if you want to go all-in on the modern chic aesthetic, you can remove them completely. In this Ang Mo Kio HDB property, we’ve opted to make the look seamless and clean by updating the cabinetry to push-action ones. It’s clean and minimalist, and it removes the distractions from the cabinetry, allowing the rest of the space’s design to really shine through. It’s actually easier to maintain and clean so keeping the space in top condition will turn out to be a breeze. It’s perfect for people who don’t really have time to do a lot of deep cleaning during the weekends.

Install choice lighting fixtures

The lighting fixtures that you interject into your interiors can change the way that the space looks. Outdated or basic looking lighting fixtures can make the space appear mediocre. In this HDB property renovation, we decided to play around with the lighting fixtures a little bit. Pendant lights brought in a sense of dimensionality to the space. It’s also a great way for you to bring in texture and a sense of character without trying too hard. You can also experiment a little bit with other types of ceiling lights, chandeliers, or even sconces and wall lighting. Dimmer lighting can make the space feel cozier or more intimate whereas bright lighting can open the space up and make it look bigger and airier. Find out what works for the space and for the aesthetic you’re going for.

A splash of white paint can do wonders!

It’s pretty basic but we stand by what we say. A splash of white paint can make all of the difference in the world! White is a great backdrop to go with. It’s neutral. It doesn’t go against any other type of color palette you might want to introduce to the space, and the best part is that it can make a somewhat cramped or small space appear to be so much bigger than it actually is. White pairs well with contrasting colors or elements, similar to what we’ve done in this condo renovation. The stark white contrasting with the black couch and ceiling fan provided a visual point of interest into the space without having to introduce too many design elements into it. You may also go with textured whites such as marbled effects, varying finishes, and so on. The sky’s the limit, really. There’s so much color that can play into the white spectrum than you would actually think.

Play around with black cabinets

The thing with cabinets is that they can turn out to be an eyesore especially if they weren’t thought out well. A great way to bring in a splash of chicness to it is to have your cabinetry in all black. It’s modern, it looks solid, and the best part of all is that black is a great visual contrast against any neutral you could possibly think about bringing into the mix. If you aren’t too fond of black cabinets, you can play around with other darker colors. You can go with other variations of colors similar to blacks such as grays, dark browns, or even red. When set up against a neutral background, it could easily transform something as mundane as cabinets from a purely functional element in the space into a real contribution in design. Shiny or glossy black looks modern and seamless whereas flat black is a little more subdued and softer.
